How to prepare

  1. 1Add 60 g of the khichdi mix to the pressure cooker.

  3. 3Add salt to taste; optionally add vegetables, spinach, coriander or a teaspoon of ghee.
  4. 4Pressure-cook for about 3 whistles.
  5. 5Let the pressure release naturally, stir and rest 3–5 minutes.
  6. 6Serve with curd, vegetables, pickle or a protein side.
Open-pot method+
  1. 1Add one measure of mix to about three measures of water.
  2. 2Bring to a boil, cover and simmer on low for 15–18 minutes.
  3. 3Stir occasionally, adding hot water if needed, until grains and dal are soft.
  • For seniors, use more water and cook to a softer consistency.
  • Vegetables add volume, flavour and make the meal more complete.

How long does it take to cook?+

About 15–18 minutes in one pot. It also works well in a pressure cooker — see the preparation steps on this page.

Is it suitable for vegetarians?+

Yes. It is a vegetarian, plant-based blend of millets and moong dal with no added sugar.

Does it contain gluten?+

It is made to be wheat-free. However, it is manufactured in a facility that also handles cereals containing gluten and tree nuts — please check the allergen line on the pack if you need strict assurance.
